Teacher Information
The following steps give you all of the information you need to implement the Chasing Einstein Challenge in your classroom.

☐ Weekly Introduction Video
Watch the weekly video (2-5 minutes) as a whole class. I will set the stage for the day, update students on the leaderboard, and explain the weekly math challenge.
☐ Math Practice Video
Watch the weekly Math Practice video, "We Are Mathematicians," as a whole class. It is also beneficial for students to rewatch the video on their own to hear the information reiterated.
☐ Math Mentor Flipgrid Video
Have students watch their Flipgrid video from their DSU math mentor. Students will select the Math Practice (MP) for the week. I have created a schedule (see right). Each student will login with their student ID which are located on this spreadsheet.

☐ Math Challenge
Students will complete math challenges each week. Each of the math challenges involve using a variety of problem solving skills to complete math puzzles. I'll use one of the following websites and explain its use within my weekly introduction video.
  • Poly Up
  • Solve Me Mobiles
  • Who Am I?
  • Mystery Grid
  • Mashup Math
  • Area Maze
  • Open Middle
  • Sumaze! app web site
  • Sumaze!2 app web site
☐ Respond to Flipgrid Video
Have students go back to Flipgrid and respond to their DSU math mentor. Remind students to go back to the math practice for the week and find their math mentor. They will respond directly to that video. The DSU math mentors will give students specific questions and prompts each week. We will start out with simple questions, but the ultimate goal with the Flipgrid video responses is to get the students to be reflective about their mindset and learning.
☐ Attitude & Effort Form
I would like you to fill out the Attitude, Effort, and Progress form by the end of the week. I'll use this to give each student Einstein Points. I want to make this as simple as possible for you. If you have suggestions for ways to make it quicker and easier, let me know. You can base your score on what happened during the Chasing Einstein hour or based on their work for the entire week. The goal with the game is to reward the students that are working the hardest and carrying a good attitude.
