Overview:
Area Maze puzzles, created by Japanese puzzle designer Naoki Inaba, challenge students to find a missing value using the properties of area. While originally designed with whole numbers, these tasks can scale to include fractions and decimals. Because the figures are purposefully not drawn to scale, students must rely on strategic and spatial reasoning rather than measuring or guessing. Use the button below to try these puzzles in a Wayground activity. There are 15 puzzles in the activity.
